This house, like the ‘Great Barrington House’ a mile or so down the road from it, continues my goal of creating houses that are small and carefully designed – think ship or plane design where every cubic inch has to be carefully considered and multiple uses of spaces are critical. This house is unselfconsciously playful, decidedly contemporary, and as ‘green’ as was possible on a small budget: approximately $140.00 per square foot. This house proves that good, green design and affordability are not mutually exclusive.
